Vintage World War II handmade mahogany cigarette and ashtray box. A keepsake made for servicemen to bring home after duty. The left compartment stored cigarettes (or hand-rolled ones), with a cutout leading to a slide-out dispensing tray. One side is engraved with the lieutenant's name in English. The opposite side has Japanese writing (translation unknown). "1945" is carved on the edge. "Matsumoto" is engraved on the cigarette box cover, along with some Japanese letters. Originates from a friend who served until the war ended in 1945. Great condition, typical wear/scratches for a vintage item of this age. As-Is.
