This is a vase designed by George Thompson and produced by the Steuben Glass factory. This Steuben vase was designed in the 1940s and exemplifies a crystal piece from this period. <br><br>The Steuben name is signed on the bottom. See last picture. <br><br>This vase is in excellent condition. It is undamaged with no chips or cloudiness.<br><br>It measures 4 1/2” tall; 6 3/4” at the mouth and 2 1/2” at the base. It is heavyweight, weighing 2 pounds and 7 ounces. <br><br>George L. Thompson (1913-1981) joined the design dept at Steuben Glass Works in 1936 and was a senior staff designer until his retirement in 1974. His designs were included in every Steuben Glass exhibition during his tenure. His works are in the collection of the Met in NYC; the Louvre in Paris and several other prestigious international museums.
