Beautiful vintage-antique necklace handcrafted by the Rana Tharu people from Southwestern Nepal, mid-1900s.Made of white metal or low-alloy silver and brass, with spike beads in distressed silver + gold or brass color and red + green Muslin fabric base. Button + loop closure made with what is likely a scalloped Anna coin (coin worn too smooth to discern) + Muslin fabric. Set at the front, a 1917 One Rupee coin is at center.Interesting oxidation on majority of spikes giving some brassy + some coppery areas and some spikes are slightly askew, all common for these necklaces. Reflects years of loving use (c. early-mid 1900s).Condition: In very good condition for age. One Rupee 1917.Size: 19" Long (end to end) + approx 2.5" Wide.
