This is an incredibly rare Lladro "Obstetrician" vintage sculpture statue. It was first introduced in 1971 and retired in 1973. Item number is 4863. It's from the Lladro professional collection. This piece was designed by Salvador Furio. This piece is of a doctor holding an upside-down newborn baby This amazing piece depicts the delivery methods of the doctors in the 1960's. The doctor is holding the newborn by its ankles and seems to be smiling with a satisfied expression of the baby crying. The newborn baby is naked and has brown curly hair. The doctor has curly hair, has a large mustache, is wearing the traditional gown of that era, an apron with long gloves which was the custom. He also has a small stool around his legs. It is a handmade and painted figurine. It's made with beautiful pastel colors. It is made with a glazed finish. It was created in Spain. It measures 14 1/2" tall. It's in excellent condition. No original box or paperwork. Last known original retail price is $650.00
