Fabulous American Victorian 15 karat gold, pearl and woven hair brooch, dating to circa 1856. The brooch is set with finely plaited brown hair and light beige under glass, apparently for two people. The glass is surrounded by a ring of natural seed pearls. One seed pearl is missing. The brooch has an old c hook clasp. The back of the brooch has a presentation inscription , reading John & Mary, August 1956. Dimension is 30.0 x 18.0mm, weight 6.9gm. No assay mark, tested for 14-15K. This is a Rare and sentimental piece of antique mourning jewelry.
